Robert Crawford III (Age: 34)

Born in Christ Hospital, Jersey City, NJ on January 5, 1947. Due to his mother's past illness with tuberculosis Bob stayed in the hospital for about 6 months to ensure that he was healthy and not contagious. Very little was known about the illness at that time.

Bob enlisted in the US Army right after high school at the age of 16 and was stationed primarily in Germany. After serving 4 years, he worked as a manager in a local factory where he met Maria Masa. They married in 1979 and had 2 sons.

Bob passed away suddenly on February 18, 1981 at the age of 34 while on vacation in Puerto Rico with his family. He had gone out for an early morning swim alone and had a massive heart attack, or aneurism, and died while walking to the pool. At the funeral it was confirmed that Maria was pregnant with her second son, Thomas, who was born that September. Their older son, Robert, was only 2 1/2 years old. It was the children who helped Maria and the family find comfort and happiness.
